Exhibition - 100 years of Czech Radio

Periodic public radio broadcasting in Czechoslovakia began on May 18, 1923. Czech Radiojournal with a regular radio program in Europe was surpassed only by the BBC. Today's Czech Radio is not only an institution with a century-old tradition, but also a modern public medium. The exhibition will take you through the history, remind you of important events, and introduce you to historical and contemporary broadcasting and transmission technology. Through the unique photographs, you will get a glimpse into the life of Czech Radio.

Czech Radio is a public-law institution that now operates 26 radio broadcasting stations. As a public service medium, it has been providing citizens with access to information, culture, education, and entertainment for an admirable hundred years now! The radio joined alongside the English BBC and thus ensured the first proper periodic radio broadcast in continental Europe. During these years, Czech Radio became an integral part of the (Czech) public space and Czech history, which it was not only influenced by, but also shaped itself.

For this important jubilee, we organized an exhibition in cooperation with Czech Radio, which, through photographs, recalls not only the milestones of Czech modern history, but also maps the development of transmission technology. Through the unique photographs, you will get a glimpse into the electrifying world of radio waves and the rich life of Czech Radio.
