Migration, exile and diaspora are phenomena that have accompanied humanity throughout its history. Whether due to war, climate change, political instability and persecution, or simply the desire to live better life, people have always moved from place to place and will continue to do so.
Under the direction of Renáta Fučíková, the students from the Studio of Didactic Illustration at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art (University of West Bohemia) in Plzeň have created hundred portraits of important migrants who left Czechia for abroad or, conversely, came to Czechia from abroad to search for new home there. Thanks to the cooperation of Sutnarka and the Czech Centres, who are bringing the exhibition abroad, you will have the opportunity to see portraits of important figures of the Jewish diaspora, the Czech non-Catholic exile, refugees from Nazism and Communism, victims of forced displacement, current expats and new immigrants seeking safety in our country.
Selection of portraits will be presented in the Gallery on the Fence
