Karel Martínek at Haifa Pipe Organ Season Festival

Czech organist Karel Martínek performed at the prestigious Haifa Pipe Organ Season Festival.

Karel Martínek's concert took place on November 11 at the Hecht Museum Auditorium at Haifa University as a part of the Haifa Pipe Organ Season Festival. Martínek's recital was based on the work of César Franck, a French composer from the Romantic period. In the end, he also improvised on this composer's theme. More than two hundred people attended the concert and thanked Martínek with a final round of applause. 

Karel Martínek was born in Olomouc, where he worked for a long time in the Cathedral of St. Václav, he also regularly cooperates with important Moravian musical ensembles. In addition to organ interpretation and improvisation, he dedicates himself to composition. Karel Martínek performs concerts at home and abroad, and as part of his concert tours, he has performed in important European churches, such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, the Cathedral in Turin, the Cathedral of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, etc. In addition to compositions for solo organ, he created several pieces for piano and works for choir and orchestra, some of which were awarded at composition competitions.
