On the first day of July Czech Ambassador to Israel Martin Stropnický recieved the European Union flag from his French counterpart. The act symbolised the handover of the EU Presidency. In addition to the French and Czech ambassadors, the event was attended by diplomats from other EU countries as well as by the Ambassador of Ukraine. Martin Stropnický presented the main priorities of the Czech Presidency. These include, among others, the management of the refugee crisis and the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, energy security and the strengthening of European defence capabilities.
On this occasion, the photo exhibition "The Czech Republic: From the Velvet Revolution to the Present - Return to Euro-Atlantic Structures" was inaugurated.
