Solo by Radim Vizváry at Tel Aviv Dance Festival

On the last Friday afternoon in July, Tel Aviv was already slowly preparing for the coming Shabbat. At the Suzanne Dellal Centre, however, everyone was preparing for a completely different event. Namely the performance of Solo by the talented Czech mime Radim Vizváry, who performed here as part of the Tel Aviv Dance Festival. In ninety minutes he took the audience through ten milestones of mime and showed how varied this theatre genre can be.

Vizváry's performance was almost sold out, so it's no wonder that the foyer was bursting shortly before the show. A few minutes after two o'clock everything started, a single performer appeared on a stage full of costumes, and the show that followed his arrival amazed every spectator. The audience had chills running down their spines and at other times they were crying with laughter. His show was simply an unforgettable spectacle that ended with a well-deserved standing ovation.

The performance was followed by a short discussion with the Czech artist and Naomi Perlov, the artistic director of the centre. During the talk, Radim revealed not only who has helped him the most in his current profession, but also the difference between classical and modern pantomime. After the official part of the program, many audience members came to thank Radim Vizváry personally and wish him much success in his future work.

The performance would have been very difficult to realise without the support of our partners, we would like to thank Smartwings, the Suzanne Dellal Centre and the Mime Prague Association.
